Tour de Yorkshire

Swift go are proud to be British Cycling’s preferred motorhome supplier. We love everything to do with cycling and we're delighted that the Tour De Yorkshire is back again for a 6th year in 2020.

Taking place between 30 April - 3 May, the UK's premiere road cycling event passes through some of Yorkshire's most challenging yet beautiful cycling routes.

With stage 1 travelling through Beverley, Hornsea, Bridlington, Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby and ending in Redcar, there's plenty of opportunity for competitors and spectators alike to sample everything that the Yorkshire coastline has to offer.

Stage 2 takes in other beautiful Yorkshire towns and cities such as Skipton (Listed in 2018 on the Sunday Times report of Best Places to Live in northern England), and the beautiful market-town of Leyburn which boasts an impressive range of quirky shops and pubs as well as its must-see weekly market.

Stage 3 starts in West Yorkshire’s very own Barnsley, passing through the postcard ready market-towns of Todmorden and Hebden Bridge before finishing in Huddersfield, the town to visit if Victorian architecture is your thing.

Stage 4 of the Tour de Yorkshire begins in the minister town of Halifax, home of Quality Street for all of our chocolate lovers! The route continues on, passing through Haworth (the village in which the Bronte sisters penned many of their novels), Masham (known for a mixture of its sheep trading heritage and beautiful Georgian houses) and concludes in the city of Leeds, the cultural hub of the north.

The home of British motorsport, Silverstone’s calendar offers something for all enthusiasts. A far cry from its early days as a WWII airfield marked out via straw bales and ropes, the circuit today is one of the most advanced in the world, with the Silverstone British GP the best-attended event in the sport.

Held each year at the historic venue, the British Grand Prix sees sporting rivalries play out over three days. Here spectators can watch every manoeuvre, hear the zip of tyres and feel the excitement buzzing in the air, as they marvel at the engineering, technology and innovation behind the cars.

Likewise, the MotoGP brings enormous crowds to Silverstone, eager to see the premier class of motorcycle racing do battle for the championship.

But catching a race at Silverstone is about so much more than the actual contests – it’s about soaking up the atmosphere, meeting likeminded people and making lifelong memories. The best way to experience this is by staying over at the campsite, erected for both the F1 Grand Prix and MotoGP, that’s just 150m from the track. You’ll find a festival feel, with major artists playing gigs, family entertainment keeping everyone happy and fairground attractions bringing the fun, as well as a wide range of hospitality.

And now there’s no need to sacrifice comfort to stay on site, thanks to motorhome hire from Swift Go. With one of our luxury leisure vehicles, you can rely on amenities such as a warm bed, bathroom and fully fitted kitchen, keeping your trip easy and relaxing.

The Open Golf Championship

Held between the 12 – 19 July 2020 at the Royal St George in Kent, The Open is the oldest of the sport’s major professional championships. Drawing hundreds of thousands of spectators, it’s an ideal opportunity to watch your favourite golfers tee it up and battle for the Claret Jug trophy.

The Open moves to a different UK venue each year, allowing attendees to discover new links and areas of the British Isles. In the past, this has also meant dashing to book up hotels that are often far removed from the course, or cramming into a tent and sharing facilities. But now there’s luxury motorhome hire from Swift Go, offering straightforward booking and a welcoming base where you can kick back and reflect on the day’s results, embracing the spirit of the campsite without any of the inconvenience. And after the Championship is over, make the most of your trip by exploring the local region.
