What is Swift Go?

A motorhome hire company launched by Swift Group - the UK's No1 leisure vehicle manufacturer.

Who makes the motorhomes?

Swift Group makes all Swift Go motorhomes at our factories in Yorkshire. Swift is the UK's leading leisure vehicle manufacturer and has been making caravans and motorhomes for over 50 years.

Which motorhomes do you hire?

We have chosen 3 of Swift's most popular ranges for Swift Go. Escape is our best-selling motorhome and a favourite among first-time owners and families. Edge is the latest range of coach-built motorhomes featuring some high-line models with an over cab bed. Select is a more compact campervan, perfect for adventurous road trips.

How old are the motorhomes?

All vehicles in the Swift Go fleet are in pristine condition and are less than 3 years old.

How equipped are the motorhomes?

All Swift Go motorhomes are fully equipped. On board you can find...

  • Fully equipped kitchen with fridge-freezer, cooker, microwave*, kettle and toaster
  • 4G-enabled Wi-Fi and TV

Booking your motorhome

Can I hire?

To hire a motorhome from Swift Go you need to meet certain requirements. You must be aged between 25 and 75 years old inclusive during the rental period and have held a full licence for at least 3 years. If you have any licence endorsements or recent insurance claims made against you be sure to check our Driver Eligibility page for full details.

Do I need a special licence?

No. All Swift Go motorhomes and campervans weigh less than 3,500kg and can be driven on a standard UK category B licence.

I have points on my licence - can I drive?

If you have accrued a maximum of 6 penalty points from minor convictions we can accept you for hire. However, if you have more than 6 points or have had a major conviction or disqualification, Swift Go can not cover you.

For full details and a list of UK endorsement codes which are prohibited please visit our Driver Eligibility page.

I have made a recent vehicle insurance claim – can I hire?

Swift Go can not provide cover if you have had 2 or more insurance claims made against you in the last 3 years. Non-fault claims do not count towards this total. Please either call (0333 247 2222) or email bookingenquiries@swiftgo.co.uk before booking if you have any questions.

How do I book?

It's simple. Just fill in the booking form on the homepage with your dates and the number of people travelling and then follow the steps on screen. Your holiday is booked in a few simple clicks - no need to make phone calls or email us.

How long do I have to pay?

You will initially pay a deposit (20%) upon making your booking. You will need to have settled your balance no later than 6 weeks before you pick up the motorhome. Don't worry, we'll keep you posted with the occasional email reminder to keep your holiday on schedule.

How long can I hire for?

You can rent from just 3 nights off peak. Our minimum hire period changes depending on the time of year you are traveling:-

Jan, Feb, Nov, Dec – 3 nights
March, April, May, June, Sept, Oct – 5 nights
July, Aug – 7 nights

How many people can drive?

You can have up to 3 named drivers. But all drivers must be present at pick-up with the relevant paperwork. So just because you have booked doesn't mean you have to do all (or any) of the driving.

Can I hire from outside the UK?

Yes, we can offer hire if you're booking from inside the EU, or from any of the following countries: Andorra, Australia, Canada, Iceland, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Switzerland and United States. Regrettably, we can not accept bookings from territories not listed due to restrictions around insurance.

Please refer to our Driver Eligibility page for full details.

Am I insured?

Yes, we include comprehensive insurance cover for up to 3 drivers for road traffic accidents or collisions. We operate an excess deposit of £1,500. This will be held against your credit card (only charged in event of an incident). Excess is the amount you're required to pay when making an insurance claim. We also offer an optional CDW (collision damage waiver).

Can I reduce the excess?

CDW stands for collision damage waiver - it significantly reduces the excess. It is charged at £15 per day. But when you take out the CDW, the amount of excess you will pay if involved in a road traffic accident or collision is reduced from £1,500 to £500 (subject to detailed terms and conditions).

What if I cancel my booking?

Plans can and do change. Unfortunately we do have to charge you in the event of a cancellation. The amount you will be charged depends upon how close you are to the booking date when making your cancellation. Please see below for the details:

Cancellation charges

  • More than 42 days before the Collection Time - the Booking Deposit
  • 29 - 42 days - 40% of total hire charge

Where are the Swift Go depots?

We have three depots from which you can collect your vehicle – Manchester, Edinburgh and London Heathrow. All are conveniently located near to major international airports and the motorway, and are a short drive from some of the UK’s most beautiful and popular destinations.

Swift Go has plans for further expansion in 2021.

Click here for depot addresses and contact information.

Can I leave my car?

Yes, we offer free on-site parking for the duration of your holiday. Our depot is supervised and gated for your peace of mind.

What time can I pick up my motorhome?

Our standard pick-up time is in the afternoon (between 2pm and 4.30pm). However, we understand that our customers want to make the most of their motorhome experience and, with that in mind, we will try to accommodate earlier collections on a request basis.

During busy periods, early collection is less likely to be available and we won’t be able to confirm until a few days before you travel.

We recommend that you book your first night at a camp site within 2-3 hours’ drive of the Swift Go depot.

What time do I return it?

We ask you to return and unload your motorhome by 11.00am please (our office opens at 08.30am). Failure to do so could impact another customer’s holiday and will attract late return charges of £75 per hour, chargeable quarter hourly.

We recommend that you stay within 2 hours of the Swift Go depot on your last night to ensure a stress free return journey.

We've stripped away any confusion by including as standard everything you could possibly need to enjoy your holiday, from kitchen equipment and bike racks to sat nav and camping furniture.

Depot opening hours

Our depot is open:

  • Monday to Friday – 8.30am to 5pm
  • Saturday - open for collections and returns only, unless by prior appointment.

Returning the motorhome - what do I need to do?

Before returning your Swift Go motorhome to our depot, we ask you to...

  • Empty the cassette toilet and water tank at a designated area
  • Remove rubbish and general waste from the motorhome and empty the bins
  • Refill the tank with fuel
  • Wash dishes and ensure the oven and grill are cleaned

I've never driven a motorhome - is there any help?

Yes. We'll introduce you to the vehicle and talk you through its main functions and controls. Everything is detailed in a user guide we have written specifically for people with no experience of motorhoming.

Preparing for your holiday

Where can I go in the motorhome?

If you're heading to mainland Europe or the Republic of Ireland, simply tick the ‘Euro Travel’ box on our booking page. Swift Go will provide you with a 'Vehicle on Hire' certificate and equip your motorhome with a European Travel Kit.

The following countries are covered under our comprehensive insurance:

Andorra, Iceland, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Serbia, Switzerland, the UK and all current member countries of the European Union.

European travel outside of the countries listed is not permitted and will not be covered by any insurance.

Alternatively, why not plan the perfect staycation and take in the national parks and hidden treasures of the UK?

Many customers prefer to bring their own bedding & towels but Swift Go can supply these items at an additional one-off cost for your convenience - £50 per double set, £25 per single set.

Do I need to bring pots, pans and plates?

No. Every Swift Go motorhome is fully kitted out with kitchen kit: pans and crockery, glassware and cooking utensils. When you're embracing the great outdoors, you don't want to be lugging the kitchen sink behind you.

Can I get online?

Yes. All Swift Go motorhomes come with a 4G-enabled Wi-Fi router and unlimited data!

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, you can. We understand that for many people a holiday is not a holiday if their dog has to stay home. Simply tick the box labelled ‘Pets’ on our booking page and we will do the rest. Swift Go has pet-friendly vehicles in every motorhome range.

Please check our T&Cs before booking.

Will the motorhome have fuel in?

Yes, when you collect your motorhome from the Swift Go depot it will have a full tank of fuel. We ask you to refill the tank of fuel before dropping off the motorhome at the end of your holiday.

Do the motorhomes come with Isofix?

No, child seats need to be compatible with a standard 3 point seat belt please.
